Things to Know Before Booking

I don’t want my pictures shared, or at least those with my face in it, is that possible?

Absolutely! This will be covered under the agreement we will sign. The default of the model release you will be signing says you give permission to share, but please let me know what you are comfortable with, and I can change it accordingly.

Some people choose to keep everything private, some won’t mind if their face isn’t shown, some just don’t want to be tagged on social media, and some wants to share with the world! It’s all up to you.

I’m not skinny/not young/have scars/totally awkward, etc. Can you still make me look good!?

Yes, yes, and yes!!! This is one of the core reasons I started this. You don’t feel good about yourself, whatever your reason is? Challenge accepted. Whatever your insecurities are, let me know, and I will pull out all my tools to make it disappear. Also, read about how that doesn’t matter at all on my post here.

What payment options do you accept?

I take all major credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, and cash. Sorry, no checks please.

Do you have any payment plans?

I do! I do require a minimum of $150 deposit so I can book the hair and makeup professionals. Besides that, I am super flexible! As long as you pay me before I send you your digital images and products, I am able to work with what you feel is comfortable.

All payment plans are interest free.

I am ready to book a shoot! What’s next?

Yay! It is seriously going to be one of the coolest things you will ever do for yourself (and/or your partner too).

You can contact me via email at hello@emilyjenksphotography.com or my contact form! I can’t wait to work with you and amazing images that you can look back on forever!

What should I bring?

You will receive a more detailed preparation tips before your session, but generally, bring 3-6 outfits that you feel great in, lots and lots of accessories that you might want to wear, sexy shoes, and any props you may want to use!

What about hair and make up? Can I do it myself to save money?

Unless you won one of my free shoots at a raffle or giveaway (which you can purchase make up and hair separately), all my shoots include make up and hair. Do you know why? It’s part of the experience! Honestly, besides the pictures you will receive, the hair and make up is going to be one of your most favorite parts! So make sure to schedule a date night after your shoot, and your date will be wowed with how gorgeous and confident you look!!

How do I prepare for my shoot?

I will send you all the details after the booking is complete! Everything including where to meet, what to bring, body prep instructions, and all the pump-you-up details that you need!

Once you book me, I will also send you a questionnaire to get to know about you and what kind of a shoot you are looking for. It’s a fun brainstorming activity to get your visions clearer!

During Your Shoot

Where would the shoot take place?

What I want to offer to my clients, that’s different than most other boudoir photographers is that I want to take the photos at places that are special to you - or gets you excited. I do have my fair share of locations that I can suggest, including amazing studios throughout the Bay Area, if you don’t know where you want to take photos. Honestly, we can make a bathroom look like a sexy spot with lighting and backdrops. So contact me and let’s come up with THE most amazing spot for you!

I am going to be so awkward - what do I do? How do I pose?

It will be a bit of a workout, and you will learn moves that you can take home to your significant other. :)

All joking aside, this is probably the #1 hesitation I hear towards booking a boudoir photo shoot! Don’t worry. I will guide you through poses, prompts, and lighting to make you feel at comfortable and just simply have fun.

Do I have to get naked?

Absolutely not! You can be fully clothed and I will still be able to take stunning pictures of you! If you are not so comfortable with very little clothes, you can maybe wear an over-sized shirt with boy shorts, or comfy sweater. There are many ways for you to be “covered” up and still look amazing! We will cover more of this during our pre-shoot prep!

As I read someone say before “my photographer was more into lighting than my boobs.” Lol It’s so true! I am not going to care less if you have a third nipple, I’m going to be focused on all the things I need to be focused on - getting those pictures to look damn good.

Can I get naked?

Absolutely! But please note that I only take artistic, tasteful nudes. If anything is out of my comfort zone or out of my artistic vision, I will let you know and guide you into a better position, lighting, etc.

Can I bring a friend?

Feel free to bring a friend for the makeup and hair portion of your session. Please let me know prior to your session day to ensure we will have enough space!

For the shoot itself, I do not allow anyone else to be present. I want the shoot to be all about you, and I want you to be 1000% comfortable. Even a best friend or husband can have an influence on how you feel. Anyone you may bring to the hair and make up portion can hang out somewhere nearby the photo shoot is happening to wait for you to celebrate after!

How long will the session take?

Make up and hair can take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half on average. The session itself will take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the package you choose. Overall, please allot about 2.5-3 hours of your day so we can make sure you look and feel amazing, and we can take all the pictures reflecting that!

What happens if I am late?

You time, my time, along with the glam squad, is super important to all of us. If you are less than 15 min late and all parties are available to stay later, we will continue with the full session. Any later than that, we will end on the original end time and everything will be cut short. Anything beyond 30 minutes, we reserve the right to cancel the session without a refund. Rescheduling will be up to the discretion of the photographer, hair and make up artists.

Please do call us as a courtesy if you are running more than 5 minutes late.

What happens if I have to cancel?

If you need to cancel with more than 14 days notice and can’t reschedule, I will refund any payments made. If it is within 14 days, any payments made to that point is non-refundable or transferable. By then, I would have already booked and paid for a place, make up artist, hair stylist, and blocked the time from any potential clients so unfortunately, I won’t be able to provide a refund. I do make exceptions from time to time, especially for unpredictable and unfortunately circumstances, or if I am able to book another person for that time, or if I won’t incur any fees.

Due to the custom nature of these packages, session fees and any products/prints already purchased are non-refundable.

After Your Shoot

When would I receive my digital images?

You will receive your online, password protected, private viewing gallery within 1 week of your photo shoot. These will be your proof gallery. We will set up a time to go through the images together. You can let me know which ones you love, and which ones you want edited (if anything). From here, you pick the amount of digital images included in your package. From the selected images, I will provide further edits (if requested/necessary) within one week to complete your online gallery where you can download, purchase print, and share as you wish!

If you are in a rush and need your images sooner, please let me know at the time of booking to ensure I have the capability of doing so!

Will you Photoshop me? Are you able to get rid of rolls/cellulite/any minor “imperfections”?

I generally use Photoshop to take away any non-permanent features of your body, skin, and wardrobe malfunction. Any further edits will only be done at the request of the client - you! I can get rid of rolls, cellulite, and imperfections but on extreme cases (extensive edits that will take me over an hour), will be additional charge, generally at about $50 per image.

When would I receive my prints and products?

There is generally a turnaround time of 1 week after ordering for prints and 2-3 weeks for album creation.

I want to order prints, how should I do that?

You can do so via your online gallery directly through my print shop. I work with only the best of the best! If you want to order a size that is not available through my print shop, please let me know. I can place the order for you.

You can also download your photos and get them printed at a place of your choice. PLEASE just don’t take it to Walgreens, Costco, etc. It will change the coloring, sharpness, and overall will make the images awful. You made the time and financial investment already, please make the extra investment (if it’s not included in your package) to go to a reputable company to get your photos printed!

I want to order an album, how should I do that?

Please let me know! I can go through all of the different options in the cover material, paper, number of images, size, and overall look and feel. Please allow 2-3 weeks turnaround time for albums!

What do I tell my significant other when he/she says “who took these”?!

Because you know what? They will… lol I have that all written out in this post, so you can just simply have this URL handy when you give the gift that your significant other will cherish forever.
